Gotta agree with you all over the place. Truly. Can't argue with anything.

And then came season 4.
It appears Shonda has repented somewhat. George and Izzie figured out the sex was horrible. Okay, in the first ep, Izzie coded a *deer,* but other than that (and a few other things) the show is looking up.

Thank goodness. I watch this thing every night to put myself to sleep - and there are large parts of season 3 that I just cannot watch (George arc, Drowning Mer arc. then again, I won't watch the code black arc either, or the train wreck with the pole people)

I miss Ellis (and if not Ellis, Susan would have been fine, though she could never be Ellis), but at least we have Lexie and guess what? Thatcher.
You have to love an ep where Daddy tells Mer the words she's been waiting her whole life to hear from her father, only to be told a few minutes later by her half sister that he told her those exact same words (and that was not a common phrase) just the other day (between calling her a bitch and giving her $20,000 dollars). The look on Mer's face was priceless.
I did feel for her.
Drunk daddy is interesting. And even moreso as he brings out things in Lexie and even in Alex (who may actually be the healthiest person this side of Bailey) and oh, yeah, Bailey and Tucker - cause it's not possible to have a great career and a family, cause Shonda Said So. Don't get me started on that one. Or Alex and Lexie.
But still, Alex reaming Lexie about "poor you - you didn't have to clean up after drunk daddy till you were 24" was just a winner.

Now if only there were not a strike.
It actually is getting better. Burke's replacement, Hahn hates Cristina (i only wish she hadn't loved her last year) and that's fun.
And I actually like Lexie a lot, now that we are past the first episode (where she was a total ditz)

Season 3 stunk, truly (it actually had its good moments). Try a couple of eps of season 4.

I would stop watching about 5 minutes into each episode last season. Then my friends would be talking about it the next day, so I'd think, "Okay. One more chance. I'll give it one more chance." Puke is right. I'm so over it. That whole episode introducing the new spin-off totally did me in--as if the other stuff wasn't enough.

Yeah, so really what I want to say is, "Ditto."

AMEN! Bad 5-9 were the main thing that drove me nuts this season, but that ferry boat thing was right up there too. And Addison's personality-change/departure to a crummy show. The whole series frustrated me so much this past season. Still haven't decided if I'm going to give it a chance at all this fall.

elle - this is what bugs. They talk about having to "burn it all down", but they forget that viewers don't really like watching ass week after week. Plus, they didn't even just burn it down... the writing sucked. The stretches of the imagination were beyond reasonable. Smart destruction, where we saw it crumbling and our hearts ached with it, would be one thing. But dumbassed drowning in bathtub crap? Please.

tasteslikecrazy - I figured a lot of people would disagree with me on the Isaiah Washington piece, but I was ready for it. :) was that the piece you disagreed with?

Yep, I can easily point to just a few of the items on this list as why Supernatural took over my TV on Thursday nights, but the simple fact is that Supernatural showed how it is done after a spectacular first season by following it up with a consistently fabulous second season. Grey's just didn't do that. (Yes, I am tossing S1 and S2 together since S1 was a whopping 9 episodes or whatnot.)

For those of you with a free hour on Thursday now, please check out Supernatural. Hey, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was on that show, too, so it's like getting to see Denny again. Only better. (He isn't confined to a bed.)

P.S. Glad you stole with love from SW. ;-)

You're right on target. And what I despise is listening to the podcasts with Shonda and the other writers where they talk about WHY they are making the show cow dung, and they have a plan, and this is the right thing. The LOST writers do this too, and while they did redeem themselves in the season finale, that doesn't make up for the fact that viewers left in droves this season. If we're complaining, we're the ones who will turn off our sets, and then it all goes downhill.
